Enzyme carriers from Lab to Commercial Scale

Introduction

Our Principal offers a range of enzyme immobilizing resin carriers.

We sell them individually and in test kit form to enable choice of the optimum carrier for your application.

Enzymes bound to them, offer the following benefits;-

  • easier separation
  • reuse of the enzymes
  • more robust production processes
  • more cost effective production processes
  • more flexible process conditions.

The carriers function via these technologies:-
-          covalent binding
-          absorption
-          ionic binding

They are available in various particle sizes.

Small:           35 = 35 – 70 μm

Medium:        150 = 150-300 μm

Large:           350 = 350-700 μm

Extra large:   1500 = < 1500 μm

Binding methods

These beads are all macroporous and specially selected for the immobilization of a variety of enzymes. The porous beads are designed to have a low diffusion limitation that allows for the immobilization of enzymes with high specific activities.

Covalent binding

This bead is a macroporous acrylic polymer carrying epoxide residues suitable for the covalent immobilization of a variety of enzymes. The porous beads are especially designed to have a low diffusion limitation that allows for the immobilization of enzymes with high specific activities like lipases.

Properties

-          Crosslinked copolymer of methacrylate carrying oxirane groups.

-          Particle size: 150-300 μm (IB-150)

-          Particle size: 350-700 μm (IB-350)

-          Moisture content <10%

Ionic binding

These beads are macroporous polymers suitable for the immobilization of various types of enzymes. The beads bind enzymes via a positively or negatively charged group.

-          Crosslinked polyacrylic  or polystyrenic polymer

-          Particle size: 350-700 μm

-          Moisture content 50 – 60%

Absorption

These beads are macroporous polystyrene polymers designed for the immobilization of enzymes via absorption.

Properties

-          Polystyrene, polypropylene or silica

-          Particle size: 350-700 μm, moisture content 35 – 70% (IB-S861)

-          Particle size: 150-1500 μm, moisture content 0-1% (IB-S500)

-          Particle size: 60-200 μm, moisture content 2% (IB-S60P and IB-S60S)
